Research & Impact
MS&E’s mission is to advance the design, management, operation, and interaction of technological, economic, and social systems through education and research.
Through this mission, we work to advance social good, promote energy sustainability, design economic systems, improve healthcare, create flourishing organizations, improve national security, and more.
The bold research and work by our faculty and students impacts academia, Silicon Valley, and beyond.
MS&E labs, centers & groups
Our hands-on labs, centers, and groups showcase the powerful impact of MS&E's research. They investigate pressing issues in criminal justice, analyze what constitutes a good decision, engineer how healthcare and computational algorithms can change the world, and more.

Senior projects
As a culmination of the major, MS&E’s senior project course offers undergraduates a “learn-by-doing” experience. Student teams select and define a problem with a sponsor organization, then design, test, analyze, and present recommendations to the sponsor using their cumulative MS&E education.
