Welcome Irene Lo

Irene Lo joins the Department of Management Science and Engineering as an assistant professor.

Prof. Lo received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University, and her PhD in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research from Columbia University.

She researches how to design matching markets and assignment processes to improve market outcomes, with a focus on public sector applications and socially responsible operations research. She is also interested in mechanism design for social good and graph theory.

Prof. Lo has co-organized the Mechanism Design for Social Good research initiative with Rediet Abebe.

Formerly at Microsoft Research, Prof. Lo was a consulting researcher working alongside MSR and LinkedIn researchers to improve theory and implementation of two-sided market design at LinkedIn. In addition, she was a research intern under the guidance of Nicole Immorlica, working on developing a theory of matching market design with information acquisition cost.

Most recently, Prof. Lo was a postdoctoral scholar in the Economics department at Stanford University.
