Benjamin Van Roy, Daniel Russo win INFORMS Lanchester Prize

The prize is awarded annually for the best contribution to the field of operations research and the management sciences published in English.

Congratulations to MS&E Prof. Benjamin Van Roy and alum Daniel Russo (PhD '15) for winning the Frederick W. Lanchester Prize from INFORMS!

Prof. Van Roy and Russo—who is now an Associate Professor in the Decisions, Risk, and Operations Division of the Columbia Business School—were awarded for their works compiled in "Learning to Optimize Via Posterior Sampling."

In the view of the selection committee, their works provided fundamental contributions to the area of online statistical learning and optimization.
