The Client: Snowflake

Snowflake Computing is a cloud-based data warehousing company that allows corporations to store/analyze data in the cloud.

The Problem to Solve

Snowflake's current reporting shows actual revenue consistently exceeds forcasted revenue. The company would like to address the quality of their forecasting methods and identify a more accurate model.

Engineering a Solution

Tools and Methodologies

The team:

  • Looked at data sets on actual revenue and rep forecasted revenue.
  • Used insights from the data set and observed relationships between actuals and predicted.
  • Derived valuable insights for Snowflakes executive leadership using Looker, and derived insights for the sales team to gain a greater sense of awareness and standards.

Recommendation

The team recommended that Snowflake not use their initial dataset for forecasting, and instead use the collected visualizations and insights to restructure their dataset entirely.
