Academic and work experience

I am currently serving as an US Army officer and have been active duty for over 20 years. My assignments include teaching at West Point and providing data analysis to the Army at various levels. My time as a data scientist instilled a drive and passion for data analysis and I believe that continuing my education will help to hone and expand my data analytic skills. MS&E is perfectly positioned to build on my ability to give data driven options to the leaders of the Army.

Impact I hope to have in my field and the world

Ideally, I would like to provide the leaders of the Army with options based on empirical analysis and the available data. Too many choices are made in the Department of Defense without a thorough data-driven evaluation. This stems from the fact that we usually need options and solutions quickly, and a 75% solution now can save lives, as opposed to a 98% solution tomorrow. Thus, I strive to not only give data-driven options to the Army leadership after my time in the MS&E program, but also give those solutions in an expedited manner.

Interests and hobbies

I am an avid board gamer, miniature painter, crocheter, and classical guitarist. I have a board game collection of around 250 games and am always down for for a game night. I also paint the miniatures for many of the games that I play. I recently started crocheting amigurumi figures and they are looking terrible, but getting better. Finally, I play classical guitar passably and continue to pluck at the strings occasionally.
