Academic and work experience

I came to Stanford last fall to start as a Math PhD student, but very quickly into my program I realized I want to use mathematical tools to solve problems that have a real societal impact. I decided to switch to the MS&E PhD program because I wanted to be surrounded by students and faculty who have similar interests as me.

Impact I hope to have in my field and the world

I hope to use my MS&E training to continue through academia as a faculty member. From a research standpoint, I hope to use tools from applied probability, algorithms, and data science to reduce bias and make resource allocation more efficient in online marketplaces—especially those used in the public sector. In addition, I hope to empower underrepresented minorities in all levels of academia by helping foster stronger community bonds.

Interests and hobbies

My main hobbies include playing the violin, running, and tennis.
