Vasilis Syrgkanis receives Schmidt Sciences Science of Trustworthy AI award
Prof. Syrgkanis will study how AI models might generate trustworthy explanations of their reasoning.
Congratulations to Assistant Professor Vasilis Syrgkanis for receiving a Science of Trustworthy AI grant award from Schmidt Sciences!
With Andrew Ilyas of Carnegie Mellon University, Professor Syrgkanis will aim to improve AI models' explanations of their step-by-step reasoning, or "chain of thought." Currently, such explanations don't always reflect how the models actually arrived at their answers, which makes the chain of thought difficult for users to trust.
