Ryan Stice-Lusvardi, Pamela Hinds, Melissa Valentine receive AOM CTO Best Paper Award
The AOM Communication & Technology in Organization Division announced the winners during its Annual Business Meeting in August 2022.
Congratulations to MS&E PhD student Ryan Stice-Lusvardi, as well as Professors Pamela Hinds and Melissa Valentine!
The team of co-authors received the 2022 Best Paper Award in the Communication & Technology in Organization (CTO) Division of the Academy of Management (AOM). Their winning paper, Legitimating Illegitimate Practices: How Data Analysts Compromise Standards to Promote Quantification, is based on Stice-Lusvardi's second-year paper. It describes how expert data analysts, when faced with certain conditions, engaged in and even evangelized practices that ran contrary to their field of expertise.
