Ashish Goel named ACM Fellow

ACM Fellows are honored for contributions to computing that are transforming science and society.

Congratulations to professor Ashish Goel for being named a 2024 ACM Fellow!

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) recognizes the top 1% of ACM members for their outstanding accomplishments in computing and information technology and/or outstanding service to ACM and the larger computing community. Professor Goel was honored for his contributions to algorithms for social networks, market design, and civic platforms, bridging theory and real-world impact.

Professor Goel’s research focuses on the design, analysis, and applications of algorithms, incorporating optimization, probability, stochastics, and game theory. His work spans social algorithms, crowdsourced democracy, reputation and trust systems, and large-scale data processing—all aimed at improving how individuals interact in digital and networked environments.

His research has also led to the development of influential civic engagement platforms, such as The Stanford Participatory Budgeting Platform and The Stanford Online Deliberation Platform, which empower communities through algorithmically driven decision-making.

With this well-deserved recognition, we look forward to seeing Professor Goel’s ongoing contributions at the intersection of theory, practice, and societal impact.
