Ashish Goel begins term as Fortinet Founders Chair of MS&E

As Stanford Professor Ashish Goel steps into his role as Fortinet Founders Chair of Management Science and Engineering, he discusses his vision for the department, how alumni and industry partners can be a part of that vision, and his own research projects.

Professor Ashish Goel began his term as Fortinet Founders Chair of MS&E at the start of winter quarter.

Professor Goel succeeds Pamela Hinds, the Rodney H. Adams Professor in the School of Engineering, who served as the department's chair from 2020 through 2025. Professor Goel discusses his vision for MS&E, which is to leverage our strengths in optimization, machine learning, operations research, entrepreneurship, management, and more, to help solve society's most pressing problems.

He also shares how alumni and industry partners can collaborate with MS&E to maximize the impact of the work being done in the department, and elaborates on some of his own research projects.
