Long Range Planning
Prof. Ramesh Johari will lead a town hall style discussion to explore the staff perspective on long range planning. President Marc Tessier-Lavigne and Provost Persis Drell are inviting all members of the Stanford community to give input about long-range planning. After celebrating Stanford’s 125 years of innovation in education and research, now is the time to ask what new challenges and opportunities lie before us in the years ahead. Our staff is a critical part of this planning process – please join us in developing thoughts for the consideration of the President and Provost.
Melissa Valentine is an Assistant Professor at Stanford University in the Management Science and Engineering Department, and a core faculty member of the Center for Work, Technology, and Organization. She studies groups and teams in organizations. Recent projects include flash teams and flash organizations and synchronized group learning in cancer care.
Johari is interested in the design and management of large-scale complex networks, such as the Internet. Using tools from operations research, engineering, and economics, he has developed models to analyze efficient market mechanisms for resource allocation in networks.
