Department Overview

Management Science and Engineering

spans engineering, business and public policy, including areas such as: data modeling, behavioral science, finance, entrepreneurship, risk, operations and decision-making. Our quantitative modeling and related algorithms forge strong connections with other departments in the School of Engineering, as well as with the departments of Mathematics and Statistics. In addition, our dual emphasis on analytics and human behavior optimally prepares our students to tackle society's most significant problems.

Our professors and students focus on research relevant to industry. Many of our students view an MS&E degree as a quantitatively oriented engineering and business education with technology underpinnings.  This prepares them well for the data-driven challenges of the future in business, public service, and academia.
